【News】 Synecoculture™ Plot Certification has been awarded to Freude Synecoculture Farm

Jul 01, 2026

SynecO, Inc. (hereinafter “SynecO”) has awarded Synecoculture™ Plot Certification to the Freude Synecoculture Farm, located within Seseragi Park in Kofu, Tottori, and managed by tenrai inc (hereinafter “tenrai”). This is the first certification awarded within Japan.

The Freude Synecoculture Farm was established as a part of the citizen-participatory event held in May 2023 titled “Growing an Edible Park with Synecoculture 〜PLANETARY HEALTH ACTION#2〜” (written in Japanese). The farm is open to the public as a community farm, continuously managed under leadership of tenrai, with active involvement from local residents and students.

“Although this land was originally developed on poor soil, we harvest summer vegetables and herbs from summer through fall, and visitors who come for events and training sessions enjoy participating. Our fragrant perilla (egoma in Japanese) has become especially popular. While the site still requires ongoing care—as grass from the Poaceae family still tend to dominate the site—we are experiencing firsthand the theory that human intervention can contribute to the augmentation of ecosystems.

Looking ahead, we envision transforming the entirety of Seseragi Park into a living demonstration of Planetary Health—a place where diverse people and diverse forms of life coexist, and where human involvement contributes to the health of both the land and the people who depend on it.

We hope visitors will come to feel that human existence itself can be a source of hope for our planet.“

Dr. Lisa Kirimura, Chief Executive Doctor of Tenrai Inc.

SynecO continues to support collaboration with local communities and promote sustainable food production through the dissemination of Synecoculture, thereby contributing to building a fundamentally new relationship between humanity’s essential activities and the natural environment.
