Apr 27, 2026
The Oiso Synecoculture Farm (Oiso Town, Kanagawa Prefecture), managed and operated by the Synecoculture Association, has been certified as a “Nationally Certified Sustainably Managed Natural Site” under the Act on Promoting Activities to Enhance Regional Biodiversity. Through active human intervention, the experimental farm has achieved rich biodiversity and the harvest of a wide variety of useful plants.
The “Nationally Certified Sustainably Managed Natural Site” designation certifies “areas where biodiversity conservation is being promoted through private-sector initiatives, or areas where plans for activities to enhance biodiversity are being implemented,” as part of efforts to achieve the international “30 by 30 targets” (1).
